Does your concrete need replacing?

Although concrete is one of the strongest substances, like everything, after time it can show wear and tear. We are going to discuss signs you should be considering replacing your concrete.

Spalling

This is shown by pieces of concrete peeling or flaking away. This is often caused when moisture gets into the concrete. This is usually a problem in concrete basements.

Cracking

Cracking is a common issue in when concrete needs to be replaced. This can occur when the concrete has been subjected to a weight that the specific concrete cannot handle. E.g heavy lorries frequently driving over it. Heavy cracks happens when there is movement beneath the concrete, this could be when a tree's roots grow.

Discolouration

During rainfall, the alkaline in the surface of the concrete can be washed away. This enables the concrete to be a breeding ground for plantlife such as moss or fungi. If not treated in time, this can make the concrete unsightly to look at and can cause serious structural problems.
